Recent photographs from workshops and upcoming dates

After a brief blog pause, I thought it was time to share several recent photographs from outings in Sussex. I've run a lot of one-to-one sessions recently too and the response has been fantastic.

This first set of images is from one of my favourite photography workshops. It runs along the epic cliffs at Birling Gap to Beachy Head Lighthouse. On this occasion, we were gifted with excellent weather conditions and so many lovely people attended. There was a glorious still sunset to finish the session, enabling us to play around with long exposures on the beach.

This next collection is from a one-to-one session which ran along the Cuckmere River. I was instantly reminded of how fantastic Cuckmere Haven and the stretch of the Seven Sisters coast are. As it was low tide, we were able to walk onto the sands to take advantage of the fantastic reflections on the cliffs lit by the setting sun. This walk is filled with big landscapes, waterfowl and outstanding views. I’ve decided to run a few group walks year along this route this year, dates are now available.

This selection of images is from Hastings and St Leonards on and just before a wonderful photography workshop. Fortunately, there was some interesting light on the buildings and surroundings, it made for some excellent subjects and helped with composition.

As bluebell season is well underway I have also spent several mornings in the past two weeks in the woods. There is also the welcome addition of wood anemones and the beginnings of the wild garlic flowers. I’ve seen so many photographers visit the same locations (Angmering), so I’ve ventured to a few new areas to look for something a bit different. My favourites are Abbotts Wood, Angmering and Wildhams. These are all fantastic locations to see large areas carpeted in blue.

The last three photographs are from last weekend's Jack in the Green festival in Hastings, an unusual traditional procession that ends atop West Hill. Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of time to capture these fantastical characters, next year I shall aim to return earlier in the day to get a good viewing spot as it was extremely busy.
