The First of the Poppies

Among the grasses and grains, a patch of phacelia flowers shocks the landscape with its purple splendour. Beneath it, row upon row of immaculate vines, home to the next batch of Sussex sparkling, line the chalky Downs. The meandering Cuckmere River dances its way to the distant sea as the chalk horse up on the hill stands sentry. Dotted around this rolling landscape are patches of striking reds, the first of the poppies. This perfect floral scene is made complete with the contrasting whites of the field daisy, bobbing to and fro in the summer breeze.
